I am a morning person and I like to get up early and read, exercise and get ready to start my day. I often make smoothies for myself and my little boy because they are quick and easy, but also because I am usually not super hungry in the mornings and a smoothie is a great way to quickly get energy and nutrients.
I made this smoothie the other morning for my friend Jen, who was visiting us from Los Angeles. Jen loves surfing and the ocean as much as I do, and I thought it would be fun to make a smoothie that was inspired by colors of the sea, but also packed with antioxidants, adaptogenic herbs and whole foods.
